How To Join 7Days

Auditions

We host auditions each academic year starting in the Fall! Auditions tend to occur towards the end of September and will include: a performance of the song of your choice (a simple verse and chorus is enough, and the song should be performed without a background track), a range check to see which voice part you fit most, and more information on the group! Callback emails should arrive within 1-2 weeks of your audition, and will include the information listed below. We all look forward to hearing you sing! :)

Callbacks

If you receive a callback, we will notify you via email. We will include music and practice tracks for a small section of a current 7Days song, which we use to check your blending abilities with the group. Additionally, you will be asked to perform a second song of your choosing (preferably in a different style than your original audition ), and a second range check. Callbacks are held in Ferguson Hall on West Bank. More information regarding the room number and time will be posted in late September.

FAQs

What genre of music should I sing for my audition?

We typically prefer to hear a song that sounds like something you might hear in a modern a cappella set (typically not choral, classical, or musical theatre). However, we are a group that performs all kinds of music - from pop, to alternative, to a Shrek Medley… Ultimately, we want to hear a song that you feel best fits you + shows off your voice, don’t stress too much!

Do I need previous musical training/sight-reading abilities?

No, you do not need to have any previous training to audition. We have had many talented members with no background in musical performance or ability to sight read.

When does 7Days rehearse?

We typically rehearse from 6:00-8:00 PM on Wednesdays and 5:30-8:00 PM on Sundays. In the spring during ICCA season, we will add some extra weekend rehearsals.
